Feeling Weak Post-op

Recommended Posts

I literally sat my iPhone timer to 3 minutes and would take a sip every 3 minutes. The 15 min. Would be less of a pain in the butt but I forget whom I got the 3 min method from but it worked for me. I used the 3 min method for 2 days and it set me on the course to getting the Proteins and liquids in for the day. I am week post op, 12/15/12 and today I will get all my liquids and all my Protein in, yippee! First time. I definitely agree with mixing your own shakes and use Water. I'm down 13lbs since surgery.

Gen :-)

Thanks for this thread. I was wondering why I wasn't feeling right' date=' and why I don't want anymore Water. It's hard trying to stay hydrated for me now. I had my surgery on Monday the 17 th, and just don't know what to eat it drink anymore... Need help[/quote']

Once I started drinking more... it made me thirsty. The more you drink, the more your body will crave Water. I'd go out and buy a Camelbak water bottle... they say it makes you drink 3x more and I think it's true because I LOVE mine... it's almost like a baby bottle with a nipple, but it's a rubbery straw. The good thing is that it uses suction to keep the water at the mouthpiece, so you're not getting any air when you suck. Any other type of straw is a big no-no after surgery. Also, plain water tends to hurt my pouch... this might happen to others as well, so I'd stick to powder drink mixes. As far as the eating goes... anything mushy works for me as long as its low sugar. I just started chili today with a little melted cheese... it was like heaven, and I'm not a big chili person either! sugar free popsicles are GREAT for after surgery too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
