Not to sound like a broken record but

Recommended Posts

Man does myfitnesspal help. I never used it because I found it frustrating and I didn't want to bother and my nutritionist told me not to worry about calories. My brother (6 years post op and incredibly successful) in turn tore me a new ahole for not counting my calories and basically keeping track of what I'm eating, so I sucked it up and tried again and HOLY CRAP some of the crap I've been eating is so highhhhh in calories like almonds and milk and HALF & HALF OH SWEET JESUS HALF & HALF IS SO NOT OKAY TO DRINK lol. Idk I guess all I'm saying is when I started recording what I ate I really realized what I was doing (which wasn't TOO bad but not perfect) and was able to adjust accordingly. I would really suggest this app to anyone who wants long term success.

I found out I eat anywhere from 600-900 calories a day, which my brother told me is normal for someone 6 months post op.

I really need to start recording my eating on MFP. It's hard to do when I've been eating Korean food. I'm 9 weeks post op and down 41.9lbs. moving out of state next week. Guess that'll be my New Years resolution to start recording as I won't have the luxury of my moms cooking to keep me from doing so.

I love MFP. I record everything... good, bad, ugly everyday. I have it synced with endomondo so my exercise automatically records in MFP. It is by far the best app.

I had it but deleted it because it just made me feel guilty. my surgeon said not to worry about calories right now but just don't go over 1000. at 7 weeks post op not happening anyway. if we don't eat at least 800 our body goes into starvation mode and will hold on to the weight.

I use it everyday. I have too. Mainly to track my Protein. I'm only a month out but I am around 500-600 calories.

I wasn't able to count my exercise because I take classes at the gym so it's not like I can input my yoga class or spin class... I just use mfp for nutrition facts. There have been a few situations where I really can't add the food... But not often enough where I won't use it. It happened yesterday when I bought a Starbucks yogurt parfait but I don't eat the granola or the fruit and there's no way to find the nutrition facts for JUST the yogurt you know? Mfp also got me back in the habit if weighing my food which I stopped soon completely

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
