5 months away

Recommended Posts

I have gone to 2 of the 6 required nutritionist visits required for weightloss surgery. I see the surgeon next month to decide what type of surgery I want to have. I am 26 yrs old, 6'3", and 327 with sleep apnea, high cholesterol, pre diabetic, and minor reflux. Dieting hasn't worked too well bc I always gain it back. I've been on 4 major (and expensive) diets since I was 13. I am just so tired and beat down feeling... My wife is scared for me to have gastric bypass and I am too but I am starting to feel likes its my only option. Any encouraging words?

Welcome to the group. We are your support team here. If you try everything already this has to work for you. It worked for me after so many diets including starving my self.

Thanks. I'm just looking for confirmation that I'm not doing something crazy. Makes sense to me, but not to everyone else apparently. Started out wanting the band, but now I'm not so sure. Tired of being slave to food. Thanks for the support

I'm always around. I love this group & the ppl in it. We have ppl waiting for surgery & others like me from 1 day post up to months & years post up. We will always have ppl that will judge us from the outside world. Think we are taking the easy way out. Once your tummy is stretch out due to over eating its not the same for others to say just cut down. When I did the cut down I would get moody have a big headache & I would feel my stomach crying for food. With this tool you are in control.

My wife had lapband and I did the bypass. I am happy I went with my decision! Waaaaaay more inclined to lose weight! Instantly off high blood pressure cholesterol. Once I lost about 30 pounds I didn't use cpap anymore. So much more energy and breathing easier! Wife said she is happy but she works twice as hard to lose and mine comes off pretty easy. Sometimes I think Im dreaming when i reach down and feel the belly! You aren't doing something crazy. You are taking your life back! Your whole relationship with food will change for the better! Oh yeah I was prediabetic as well. Gone! The only pill I take now is a Multivitamin.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
