How many meals do you supplement to get to 90? I'm thinking of supplementing 2 meals and eating 2 meals? Kinda feel like my body has gotten used to the 65 and is slowing ??

I was told 80-90. don't suppliment your meals. eat 4 high Protein meals a day and drink 2 Protein Shakes a day. plus get unflavored protein to add to or sprinkle on your meals. also if you are on regular foods you can eat Protein Bars. Premier Protein shakes and bars from Sam's have 30 grams of protein so just one shake and One Bar is 60 grams. so if you add your 4 meals you will have your requirements

I only eat 4-5 times a day and have to include Protein Shake as a meal. My shakes are 35 Proteins each.

My surgeon only required 64 grams of Protein daily. I felt better with 80-90 grams, I am 9 months post op now and do between 60-80 grams daily. I had a stall spell in the summer with 2 months of no weight loss :( I was totally bummed but stuck with it and increased my exercise time and intensity and moved the scale again. We all go thru stalls unfortunately...you just have to stay focused and it will pass.

Your body can only absorb 15 grams at a time. The rest goes to waste

Good to know!

I usually have one 30 gr shake a day and the rest food. I always am under 30 or less at each meal and if I'm low in the Protein scale I have a bar or something to add up the protein. I do 3 meals two Snacks a day maybe 3 snacks depends on how my protein is going.

Ok...now who is correct? One says 15 and another 30 as to what can be absorbed?? My NUT mentioned nothing about this?

From what I've read, it depends on you're size, activity level as to how easily and quickly the body uses the protien...even if you eat all your protien at once, the body will still use it.....eventually.....

I have heard this isn't true. Where did you hear about this because I have heard it too but was told that it was a myth?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
