Hi everyone, I'm Rebekah and I'm having my surgery this coming Monday. I'm hoping this procedure will help launch me onto a happier and healthier lifestyle. I started researching WLS after seeing Lauren Manzo (Real Housewives of New Jersey) and her success....it was like it dawned on me that I didn't have to be older and 500 pounds to do this so I got the ball rolling right away. So here I am...all prepared...I feel I've coped well with coming to terms with all the change this will bring but the past few days I've been alternating between being excited and being really sad and scared. I'm hoping I can make buddies here that understand what I'm going through. Only a handful of people know and my family not at all because they're incredibly critical and judgemental and I don't want to deal with comments the rest of my life. So that's the basics ;)

If anyone uses mutineers I would love more buddies there too!

Welcome so glad you found us. We really do understand what you are going through. I think you will go through every emotion there is. That is so normal. If you weren't a bit nervous or sad or anxious then that would be something to worry about, lol, You are making a big step to a lifetime of health. You are in my thoughts and prayers for an uneventful surgery and quick recovery. Please let us know when you can how you are doing. If you have any questions please ask, somebody around here will have an answer. Only tell those who you think will support you other than that this is a very personal thing and isn't anybody's business unless you want it to be. Hugs to you.

Congrats to you and Welcome aboard. I also am new and everyone on this site is great. Any question or concerns you have there is always someone ready to jump to your aid.

I have a little over 3 months left of my diet and exercise program and then my surgery will be scheduled, I can't wait for that day.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
