Fatigue 2.5 Weeks Post Op

Recommended Posts

I am 2.5 weeks post op. feeling great overall but very sluggish. I seem to move in slow motion. I have to push myself to move. Does this low energy go away? Once I am moving I am ok. But I have to stop and rest.

Hi Bakawaka,

The answer is YES!!! You are just 2.5 wks out and your body is trying to heal from major surgery...my mantra is walk, sip, rest and repeat...I applaude you that you are pushing your self to get up and move...a body in motion stays in motion!!!! Please make sure you are getting in plenty of Fluid. When I was first post op I set a timer to remind me to sip on something every 15 minutes...I put the timer in a place I had to get up to turn off...made me move...I walked around my house and had a few sips of Water or Protein shake and went back to rest...and repeated it...before long it became habit...I am 19 months post op and can tell you it gets much better.

Also take your Vitamins...I find a big difference when I am off schedule with them too.

Good luck and welcome to the loosers bench!

Hugs!

I don't have much energy yet and I'm about 3 1/2 Weeks out....i think for me now I'm just being lazy! You're still healing so don't be too hard on yourself..do what you can do

Fatigue is bad! I do what I can and seem to cry through the rest. I am told this does get better.

You still need time to heal, your body takes a long time to get into that 100% stage. Please time the time to rest, heal and then ease back into your routine. Start exercise a little at a time, actually exercise give me more energy... your time will come but you need the time to heal first.

I am hoping that the fatigue will decrease for you. Some days I have very bad fatigue and other days not. I cannot figure it out.

Wishing you the best of success!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
