SURGERY IS ON 12/12/12 @ 12 -- 48 hours til surgery and I'm freaking out a little bit...everything will be ok, right? Right...

Recommended Posts

Just needed to hop on here today for some reassurance....My surgery is set for this Wednesday; 12/12/12 @ 12pm. I'm getting nervous and cold feet. This site really helps me feel good about this life changing decision because I see so many others who've gone through this and are successful, healthy and thriving...

Any wise words of encouragement or advice? Any and all will be greatly appreciated...

48 hours to go EEEEEEK

Congratulations on making the decision to clean your slate... your rebirth day is a great date and will be celebrated by many milestone events, births , weddings, engagements and your surgery will be one of them!

Remember to sip, walk and rest and repeat...when they let you drink something..go easy and sip, sip, sip...get up and walk as soon as you can...even if it is just to the bathroom and back...then rest, it will be important to rest so your body can repair itself...even when you look healed on the outside you need to remember the inside is not...listen to your surgeon about your diet, I was on Clear liquids for a couple of weeks then full and then pureed and then soft...it took me 6 weeks before I was looking at soild food...take your time...this is not a race and you will be fine.

Sending positive energy to you and your surgical team for a speedy recovery and successful surgery.

Yes it is a long journey but each day gets better. I'm three weeks out and just getting the hang of it. Don't be scared. I never had a surgery before and I was ok. :-). Good luck

You sound so positive. I am still in the process of all the stuff u have to do to get approved. I want to do it,but in my mind I keep thinking. Why can't I just keep my mouth shut, and not eat so much. Any help would be appreciated.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
