mom2lucky (suznc) 81 Posted December 9, 2012 I was hooked on Pepsi. I was able to quit it once before when I lost 100 lbs about 4 yrs ago but when I gave in to my desires for it (and other bad things), I put all my weight back on plus 10. I kept thinking one (or two) won't hurt anything. This is why I now am 11 days post op. Pepsi was a gateway to sugar and carb cravings for me so I know better than to go there again even though I too think about wanting it. Think about what soda did for you before surgery even if it was diet. Soda inhibits Calcium absorption and is bad for the teeth (diet formula too). The carbonation is very bad for the pouch. Think of what is bad about it rather than how much you want it. It's all in the head and is your enemy.

It is a tea lemonade mix and only 5cals. It does not taste sickly of artificial sweet and no bad aftertaste

cmarie317 24 Posted December 10, 2012 My Dr told me coronation will not stretch your pouch. And that it may cause pressure but its bc of the coronation and you'll just feel like burping a lot. He said if you drink pop, drink diet. He said people think its bad but diet really isn't. 1 babygirl901 reacted to this

thunderchunky 25 Posted December 10, 2012 My mom had the bypass 6 years ago and drinks diet everyday, and she cant eat very much so im not sure i believe that it stretches
Lisa Collom 184 Posted December 10, 2012 Carbonation scares me. My brother had an open bypass almost 10 years ago. He followed no recommendations and taught himself to drink soda as the first slide down the hill. He weighs over 700 lbs now. After soda, it was fatty foods, then sugar, then increasing portion sizes. I just think getting into any of the stuff we aren't supposed to have leads us down a slippery slope. 1 Vicki Loichinger reacted to this
