I am confused on how much to eat at one time. If i am only suppose to eat 1/2 cup of food how do you get meat and veggies in at once? A couple bites of meat isn't going to get the Protein needed. Any suggestions? (I'm only about one month out)

Well I have been pondering this too. The good thing is one ounce of chicken (about 2 tablespoons) is 7 grams of Protein so it adds up. I'm thinking we will be on shakes for a while. I've had conversations with my nut and surgeon and they agreed. It's a slow process of transitioning between the shakes to the real food.< /p>

I'm on week 3 and I've been measuring everything to 1/4 of a cup. Right now we are staying for super small portions but eventually we will return when we will eat a piece of meat and veggies. Like dinner off of a small plate. A Half sandwich with some vegetables. Try going to the website the world according to eggface. She she's a lot of meals and portion sizes

I am 7 weeks out from RNY surgery. I still measure and can handle about a 1/2 cup of food at a meal. It seems to take a few minutes after is stop to get that full sensation. If i eat more im uncomfortable.

I still rely on the Protein Shakes 2 times a day but I put it in my early morning coffee and in V8 diet later morning . So this automatically gets me 40 grams. If I am less than 60 at the end of the day a do another shake to push me to >60 gms as an evening snack. I dont see this routine changing anytime soon.

7 weeks and no Hair loss and Im working full time.

My plan calls for 2oz Protein and 1 oz "fiber food " (usually vegies or fruit) for each meal and 2 glasses of milk per day. This is about 58g protein. My nut says to aim for 60g of protein a day. I will sometimes replace a meal with a shake or add some Protein Powder to my food.

I'm 7 weeks out as well and I do shakes 2x a day because its so hard for me to get the Protein in throughout the day otherwise. Keep up the good work. How is your progress so far?

Surgery 10/17/12 - 248lbs size 18/20

Today 12/06/12 - 211.2lbs size 16

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
