You can do this!!! Yes the liquid diet is very hard but it will be worth it. You have come so far already! I'm a big chicken and I'm terrified of failing but I'm taking one day at a time. My RNY was on the 19th and I've had some hiccups but its getting better!

Thanks... I am hoping this is just a moment! but t has been crazy!! I have to say I did my band in 2007 and they were not as throuro in education and such so I guess I went in blind and dumb! Now I know more and maybe that makes it alittle more scary! if that even makes sense......I did not go through any classes or nothing till I ran into trouble ...... I had a panflet I left the hospital with and followed that......Till I found a doctor that would take me even though he did not do the surgery and then I got help but that was so many years later.

They are doing a great job now but way different then before on education. I am scare it won't work since the last one did not work 100%. I think that is my biggest fear.

You have fought the beast this long. Don't get discouraged and give up now. I would say that if your surgeon felt that the procedure wouldn't be a success due to the previous Lap Band procedure that he/she most likely would have been up front enough with you to tell that. Things will go well and you will look back in six months after surgery and wonder what you were so afraid of. :) Best wishes!

There are so many thoughts that swirl through our heads before surgery. Please try to focus on the reasons why you are having surgery. I freaked myself out the day of surgery and now I realize how much overreacted! The surgery went well, and everything is going as planned. I think we all have this feeling of what if we're the exception? What if it doesn't work? Everyone's bodies react differently, which we can't control, but if we focus on the stuff we can control such as what we eat and exercise, we will be successful!

I am in the same boat with the same thoughts. Hang on. When I see those in the drs office who are passed the recovery stage they are doing well and losing. This liquid thing is certainly enough to make anyone crazy. I had to do this with the band and I remember it got easier after recovery. I don't normally weigh daily but am now because I'm losing and that helps to see the scale go down. Just keep posting and we will all get through this together.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
