I am on my last day of the diet as I have surgery tomorrow. You can do it! It will be the longest two weeks ever so it is important to keep yourself as occupied as ever. I dove head first into making my transition home after surgery a better one. I accomplished home projects, sorted through clothes, got ready for the X-mas holiday and thoroughly cleaned the house. Definitely kept me busy and my mind off of the diet. After I got through the first few days of it, it really was better. I didn't have to cheat as my doctor allows 4 oz. of meat and 1/2 c. of veggies daily. So was very thankful for that.

I had horrible headaches the first week....take some Tylenol and drink lots of Water. Dont forget about your Protein. It is very hard to get your calories in when your on this liquid diet, sometimes adding some Peanut Butter to a shake will help. There were some days that I tried and tried to get calories but only got around 400. I can eat all the yogurt I want...(I use Krogers Carbmaster yogurt which is only 4 carbs which is amazing when it comes to yogurt) I also got the New Whey Protein Shots and took one ounce every 3 hours because your body will only absorb 10 grams of protein in 3 hours. My doctor also said I can have cottage cheese (YUCK) but thats also a choice.

My liquid diet was really strict Myoplex lite, raw veggies and Water. Today is the last day. My surgery is tomorrow. Today Is definitely the hardest for me. It's not hard to resist other foods but I anxious to get past today. My best advice is to keep busy.

Good luck tomorrow! You have this in the bag. I am also so so so anxious, I am having surgery in 6 days. To top it off I have finals this week and cant use comfort foods to help.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
