4 Years Post-Op

Recommended Posts

Good Day fellow members.

I'm from Windsor' date=' Canada. I started my journey at 350lbs. I am almost 4 years post-op and RNY has been the best decision of my life.

FaceBook: Santino Pirrone

Check out my YouTube video here:

Wow!! You look amazing and I'm sure you feel it too!!! Congrats to you! Your video made me kick myself again for not keeping up with good progress pics as I go through this journey. I'm 5 1/2 months post-op and have lost 130 lbs....have about 60 left to get to goal weight. I've only really took weekly pics for the first few weeks :-( Congrats again!!

I started at 348....down to 216 now. I've eaten what I'm supposed to.....drank lots of fluids and exercised a lot. Just followed all the rules ALMOST all the time.

Thats the key... excercise. For some reason, when you excercise at 350 pounds, it does nothing but if you excercise at 200 pounds you actually see a difference. You can actually see the scale move and that motivates you to keep at it.

You will. Just remember to stay focused. Eventually you will re-teach yourself the proper way to eat and you will end up living a long and healthier life.

Best of luck

Wow you look fantastic!! What an inspiration you are to us all :D Did you start off exercising pretty soon after your surgery? I am pre-op and I have such a hard time motivating myself to exercise now.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
