Am I Alone Here

Recommended Posts

Hi, my name is Kim and I had Lap-Band Surgery on 6/2/06. There have got to be others who have had the surgery in the area. Don't be shy. Come say Hi.:clap2: :clap2:

I would love to hear from others in the area. kimsretro@comcast.net or right here on the boards.

Hi there,

Though no one has posted on this thread since February, I thought as a new member to LapBandTalk I would say Hi and see if there are any other new or old members in the Delaware area hanging around!

Hi Lee,

Wow, you are much further South than me. :) I'm up on the outskirts of Wilmington.

Some of the ladies in my Lap-Band group were from down state, waaaaay down state, which was a bit of a surprise. Apparently CHRIAS is pretty much the only game in town anymore. The next closest doc up this way is at Crozer-Chester. I know there's a Maryland doc too, but I think he may be around the Baltimore area.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for the good wishes, and send the same, best of luck to you with everything!

Just popped in to say hi! I was born and raised in New Castle County... moved to Wisconsin in Oct 2005 ...still miss my family and friends in DE, but honestly, our insurance there wouldn't have covered the lapband, so I'm kinda glad for hubby's new job out here :) and I can't say as I miss the traffic either :)

Well, happy banding DE!!!

Hi Melissa,

Nice to *meet* you too! Dr. Peters assisted with my surgery and I've seen him for postop and fills -- he's a great guy. He also was recently named head of the Bariatric Surgery department at Christiana about six weeks or so ago.

So, how are you making out? Doing well I hope! :(

Kim - Hi! I missed your earlier post, nice to *meet* you too! I'm glad you got this thread started! :D

Musicalmomma and I met on another thread -- great to see you over here too though! :biggrin1:

Hmmm, we have to recruit some downstaters so Lee will have some company too!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
