Hi everyone! Im a newbie here, and would like to, first, congratulate you all on your choice to begin this new journey to a new and healthy you. I, too, am beginning that journey. Im in Minnesota, just starting the process. Im going to my 2nd info meeting tonight. I have definitely decided on the Lap Band, just havent chosen a surgery group yet. This forum is a great source of info and support. Thank you all and good luck with your journey! Any others from Minnesota ??

Hi - I am from Minnesota. I am in Burnsville. I had my lapband surgery on December 26, 2006 with Dr. Svendson at Methodist Hospital so I am 6 weeks out. I have lost 37 pounds since December 17th so things are going really really good for me. My whole process didn't take very long. I started with an information session in late September, had my first appointment on Oct 10th and my last appointment on Nov 13th with surgery scheduled for Dec 26th. I didn't wait for them to call me, I called and got the ball rolling for appointments and kept pushing to get all my appointments as soon as possible. One piece of advice - don't wait around for them to call you and be persistant. If you want to email me you can do so at myharley2004@yahoo.com. I have absolutely no regrets and look so forward to going into a store and not having to go to the "large ladies" section.

Thank you for your reply SweethingMN- Congratulations on your success so far. Im going to Park Nicollett's info meeting tonight. Ive heard and read really good reviews about their program. Im really surprised at how fast you got thru all the hoops. what insurance do you have, if you dont mind me asking. and what surgeon did your band? thanks again, and heres wishing you continued great success.

I went through Park Nicollet also. My surgeon was Dr. Svendsen. He was absolutley positively the best. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. I just kept pushing and being persistant with all my appointments. Had no glitches or no hoops to jump through.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
