Aww Gen, sorry to hear the bummer news from the GYN. And I hate that you deal with some of the same issues as me, but it sure feels nice to not be alone.

Yes it does. I'm just thankful it was caught N is being taken care of. I waited til I knew I didn't want anymore children to have this surgery, which has been 5 years. I just never knew my entire life would be falling apart before and after this surgery. Well at least I will hopefully look good to meet a new man; I'll get my defective repro organs out; then start a new life when my daughter is in her Senior year of HS next year.

Regarding the heartburn or reflux: are you drinking crystal light w lemonade? The crystal lights can be acidic for some people. I am sensitive to it. I only use 1/2 package for a 16oz bottle of Water. It is more watered down but I don't have the reflux issue.

That's great. About how many calories are you getting in a day?

Her recommendation - do not worry about calories and all the others just try to get something's to stay down. Especially Proteins

Alot of the anxiety you speak of palpitations and pulse racing sounds alot lie withdrawal symptoms . I had them when I quit smoking horrible feeling. Also the nurse at the hospital told me to make sure I had a stool in the shower to sit down because alot of patients do feel fatigue and weak from showers. Luckily I have a built in stool in my shower. Y'all becareful you all are worrying me. I feel for you who have small children and had this surgery I can't imagine having to worry about them. And glad you got rid of that cheating husband. Yes I can imagine all the stress your under going through this anda divorce

Prayers to you all

Just a quick catch up, had op on 18th Dec, have weighed today, down 8 kgs, averaging a kilo a day loss. Very happy with that I guess. Struggling to get everything down tht I should, but concentrating on Water and Vitamins, sure the rest will fall into place soon enough. Walking well, not sleeping as much as I would like, lots of pain still, is that normal?

I'm down 16 lbs and had mine on dec 17th. Where is the pain in the incision sites? I had pain and could barely get up from sitting position. But at the 6 day mark that went away. I'm still a little sore but feel real good. Sleeping is not where I would like it either.

OMG!! Just wanna share, I have lost so far 41 lbs. since my highest weight, about 23 lbs since surgery on the 13th! YAY! I also took my measurements at 313 lbs and then again today and I lost a ton of inches all over! Not trying to toot my own horn but sooo excited!! If ya'll haven't already, do your measurements and weights and re-do them periodically! Makes you feel good to look back on. ") Also, praying for all of you having problems/complications. I truly think a lot of it, like you guys said, is our bodies undergoing such rapid changes. And lastly, how the h#ll do you actually update your ticker? I go to my ticker and it says edit, delete, but it won't let me update my current weight. Help! Lol.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
