MyTimeToLose,

That's a great tip for the holidays and really any outing at the beginning. Did you just bust out the measuring cup? Or was it covert? I could see this being helpful at a restaurant too.

Today I have been able to get 5 cups Water in and 63g Protein. Ugh 2 more water after my 30 minutes. I feel like I'm doing to much. But I wait 30 before and after meal. I'm not used to eating 3 meals (2 shakes and 1/4 cup soup) so I need to get more protein in 1 sitting. Will the body absorb 35g of protein with 1 meal? Does anyone know? My protein mix is 24g, milk is 8, then I add non dairy dry milk 3g's worth. Wonder if that is too much protein for Breakfast, although it takes an hour for the 8 ounces.

I'm trying sooo hard on the fluids and no dice. I'm at 10oz today. :( I'm a nurse so I know how bad dehydration can be and I swear I'm trying... I sip ALL day.

Wow, keep sipping Jodie. 10 oz is not enough to sustain your body. I keep Water by my bed so anytime I wake up at night I take at least 3 sips. That gets me well on my way for daily quota. Good Luck. Keep on sipping!

I can eat or drink anything and have not felt any restriction. No problem getting anything in and hungry enough to eat a sirloin. Isn't it interesting we all had the same surgery and it has effected each of us so differently??

See Gen, I was able to get fluids in easily for the first week or so after surgery and then one day I just couldn't.

I can't remember the amount of carbs that we should limit to. I have some soy Protein with 20 gr protein, but it has 19 carbs. Is that too much?

It hasn't been easy last 2 days but today I did finally finish the liquids. I've just felt more full yesterdAy n today, odd. Unless its the lack of BM. Who had that hotty hotty recipe?

I hope you get your liquids in soon. I'd hate for u to get severely dehydrated.

Less than 4 or 5 carbs per serving on the shake mix. Ouch, 19g carbs. How much of those carbs are Fiber?

So, has anyone had headaches post-op? I have been getting a headache every day around 6p or so and having to take my liquid acetaminophen. My ear had Fluid in it before surgery and that's still bothering me and they changed a bunch of my meds around, so that could be it too. I was just worrying about it cause I'm a worrier I guess. Lol.

Also, I find it difficult to get in the amount of ounces I am supposed to at each "meal". Lol. I can have 2-3 oz. cottage cheese, sometimes can finish an egg, and sometimes 6 oz yogurt no problem. I guess I'm just so confused and afraid I'm messing up. They say to stop at the first feeling of full and I do that and with more watery foods, like yogurt, I can eat more, but more dense foods (cottage cheese, eggs), no can do. What are you guys experiencing with this?

I haven't had any headaches. Unfortunately due to the holidays my appt is next week. So another liquids week for me. That sounds right from what I've read, different textured foods take up more space.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
