Ok girls' date=' since I have just been hanging at the same weight I decided to try something a bit different to see if it would help. I decided to just drink liquids since I was going to be gone all day and then I had a big salad for dinner. Figured it couldn't hurt and I am really tired of eating period. Well, today I'm down 2 pounds. That's the biggest drop since before surgery. It may come back but I'm. Encouraged for today. Don't know if it just happened or something I did. I feel lighter today, too. Ohh, I hope it continues![/quote']

Congrats!

Also, anyone have any advice...I haven't lost any weight in 2 weeks. Actually gained 5 pounds lost one, so in 2 weeks I'm up four. What can I do? And do stalls typically last this long? This sucks!! :(

I am not exercising regularly :( and have been kinda slacking on my protein and water, as far as counting. I dunno why! I guess I kept it up for so long I felt like taking a break. Well, we see where that got me! Lol. I began upping my water intake a few days ago and bit the bullet and began recounting today. I was thinking that I may not have been getting enough water or protein because water retention should be the only reason for me to be actually gaining weight at this point. Here's the thing...it's only been almost 3 months and I'm already sick of doing things that I have to do for the rest of my life?!? :( What are you thoughts on this? I'm not a very regimented person, so I guess this is a bit of a struggle for me.

I had a meeting w my nutritionist today. I am just having a difficult time w meats. She said that's ok and cuz I like Beans she gave me some recipes. I have lost 53lbs with just 1 week shy of my 3 month Surgiversary. She calculated it and told me w where I started on surgery day, my loss has been slightly higher than the norm, yippee. That made me happy. At first I was a slow loser, but now it has sped up.

She reinforced the fact that tracking your meals to make sure you're covering your Protein is extremely important. If you don't get all of the protein, you will stall out. My meals have been consisting of Breakfast (1 cup Special K Plus Protein, 1/2 cup milk = 17g protein) then my first drink is a Protein Shake, currently Nectars Fuzzy Navel. For lunch I eat a cheese stick, and fruit. I then have a banana as a snack because I did have low potassium, but not now. Still eating a banana a day though. For dinner, I might eat some chicken if I can handle it. If not, protein shake and fruit or veggies. Nut also told me to eat nuts (almonds, walnuts, etc for protein.) That I can do :-) I think my longest stall has been 3 days within these 3 months.

I won't touch bread, Pasta, potatoes, or other processed foods especially if they are high in carbs. A wrap for a sandwich is the only thing I'll eat or tortilla shell for a quesadilla. I had an awesome chicken n cheese quesadilla over the weekend.

Sorry this post is long but I wanted to let those struggling w loss know what my Nut said as well as an example of a day in my life with food.

Track, track, track!!! Make sure you get at a minimum 60g protein or what your Dr suggested. Remember 3-6 months is Hair loss time after this surgery. Take Biotin, I take 10,000mcg a day. Get your protein and you have better chances at saving your hair. My Dr's motto is "those people that track the food intake, are the most successful w losing and keeping the weight off." By the way, my nut also told me she has individuals that are 5 years out that still drinks at least 1 shake. Mainly cuz the were never a breakfast eater. She said it makes our life easier if we can get all protein by food, but she said as long as you get all the protein for the day that is what matters, health wise. So it is ok if I do the shakes as long as I need too.

Awesome job despite all you've been through.

I just spent 5 hours in the ER. Thought it was my 3rd UTI but it was a cyst on my ovary. I still feel nauseous and don't know why. They gave me a bag of fluids so if I was dehydrated, that helped.

I'm having a tough time with meats too. Food in general all around sucks. Its quite depressing.

Keep up the hard work. hope you can get back to your normal self soon.

I'm not a very regimented person, so I guess this is a bit of a struggle for me.

I know how you feel. I was really strict about exercising and meeting with my personal trainer and now in the past 2 weeks I've gone to the gym once. I'm 11 weeks and I'm ready to go back to normai life where I don't have to constantly think about what I'm putting in my mouth. And I don't mean back to eating like I was never going to get another meal, I'm still really good about following the diet in terms of still no carbs, mostly protein, some veggies, etc. but it's exhausting having to think about my diet all the damn time.

I'm in grad school and we're at the mid point of the semester where everything starts becoming due. Not to mention I have an hour long each way commute. Today I left my house before my husband woke up and got home after he went to bed. These 15 hour days are killer and I have such a busy and crazy life where the last thing I want to do is have to remember to take my Vitamins on time, did I eat enough protein today, is today going to be the day I drink more than 32oz of water, am I going to be balding soon, blah blah blah.

I don't mean to sound negative, because I really truly have been so blessed with this surgery. I've had incredible success and zero complications. A lot more than others can say, and I'm thankful.

Sometimes it's just really hard to devote the time and attention that this surgery needs. I think it's more than I expected. I really want to be successful at this long term because I have seen people in my life fail, and I'm dedicated, but to be honest, I'm also kind of over it. I don't really miss food, but I miss feeling normal.

End rant. Sorry all, thanks for letting me vent :)

I am not very regimented either. I just jot down what I eat on an index card and tally the protein. I am trying for 60-80 a day of protein. I check off my water and force myself to walk longer, take the stairs and walk the dogs. I have been going to the Y but it's a long drive from my home so it's a 3 hour commitment. I now feel so much better. I don't want to step backwards and keep reminding myself with before photos. I have also bought myself milestone rewards. I have a new Alex and Anni Bracelet that I wear on my dominant wrist. Every time I reach for food/ drink I remind myself to look at it and choose wisely. I picked a butterfly charm- symbolizing rebirth/ new beginnings. I hope this helps.

I am in school now too. I feel like a pack horse with all my bags. I pack Greek yogurt, tuna mixed with Greek yogurt, cheese sticks, a small can mandarin oranges/ peaches in own juice. I have found you can get hot water on campus- so I try to sip herbal tea and usually drink 4 bottles of water through the day. My bags get lighter as I drink more of the water. I try to give myself incentives like- if I drink all my water I will treat myself to a Vitamin water from the vending machine. It is tough to plan food for the day. I carry a Protein Shake in a can and a bar for just in case. I hope this helps. I know the long days you are describing. Think of the end goals and you got this!

Yes foods suck in general. But I love fruits and a cucumber, Tomato, spinach salad w some apple cider vinegar, tad bit of olive oil, w a pinch of Celtic sea salt. Last night had a serving of raw almonds and yummy.

I hope you get well soon cuz I know how painful those cysts can be.

School is quite a task plus when you work as well. I can see how hard it would be to have to worry about what to pack to eat or what to eat period. I've always flown (most of the time) by the seat of my pants when it came to what to have for dinner, lunch. I still have a hard time planning that.

Congrats you two for school and work (whether you work inside or outside your home) and trying your best to maintain our new lifestyle. It's not easy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
