December 2012 Post Op Group

I am so discouraged today! I will be 8 weeks post op on Monday and the scale never moves! I have only lost 37 lbs and only 9 lbs in the last month. I'm exercising daily and have a personal trainer. I eat or drink 60-70 g of Protein daily and always healthy options. I just don't understand how I can go from eating a lot of food that was seriously not healthy and never exercising to how I am now and the weight stays on!! I seriously feel defeated like I have every single other time I have failed at this weight loss thing...I just want to cry. Please...anyone...I need some advice or something today...nobody in my life truly gets what this is like but you all do...

Have u measured. U may be losing inches

So sorry you are discouraged, but I totally understand. I will also be eight weeks out on Monday and having similar results. I, too, am so afraid this will fail--like every single other attempt I have made at losing weight, including the LapBand. My doctor assures my feelings are normal about that. As of today I've lost a total of 34 lbs since I started the liquid diet in November. I was stalled for several weeks but was down 2.1 lbs this week. Hooray for that. I also exercise everyday, get in 60 grams of protein everyday and stay around 800 calories. I have found that sometimes increasing my calories to close to 1,000 for one day now and then seems to help get off a stall. Another thing I try to remember is that muscle weighs more than fat so the exercise contributes to that. I am able to wear smaller clothes and I do feel better physically so I look at those things as victories and try to focus less on the scale numbers. I do have faith in the process and am determined to keep on keeping on. We will succeed! It's just a matter of time. Good luck to you and everyone else on this journey. No one said it would be easy but I have to believe it will be worth it.

I guess I'll keep my doctor's appt results for another day. Feeling bad for those that are not losing. Hope everyone has a good weekend. :)

I feel the same way most of the time. I can't even tell you how much I've lost now, but before I went in for surgery I had lost 33 @ 7wks. But being on IVs it gave me a weight boost of 12 lbs.

I work out daily at the gym for an hour or two. Get more than enough protein in. My Nut said I needed to up my carbs (natural carbs) by eating more fruit n veggies. Also to break my last stall, I ate more calories. Eating more cals isn't exactly easy being I don't feel I could possibly eat more than I already am but the stall broke.

What kind of exercises do you all do? I've only done walking 30 mins a couple times a week but my doc just cleared me for all exercising. It's never been my strong area so I wondered what others do and how often? Also, recently my muscles feel weak after exercising, have others experienced this?

Before this last surgery, I walked the treadmill for an hour between 3.6 - 4.0mph w random inclines. Depending on my day I might go up to 1hr45min if I need to pound more out of me threw my feet. Then I use the weight machines to work on triceps, Latissimus, quadriceps, hamstring, gluteus. Only arms and legs, no core work till cleared for that. Being I just had another surgery unfortunately I'm out of commission right now and I'd rather be at work and at the gym. Walking, and very little of it,is all I can do right now :-(

Oh my gosh and hour & 45 mins! woah baby!! haha. I think I'm going to try 30 mins cardio (treadmill) and 30 mins weights.

A couple years ago I was in an Aerobics class that did a mixture f Turbo Kick, Zumba, and Step exercises and I love it, but the gym I belong to (Planet Fitness) doesn't offer group classes so it's all on me now to make sure I do it right!

Best of luck with a speedy recovery, Gen! You'll get back on that treadmill soon enough :)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
