dhalpine 22 Posted December 17, 2012 Question... when can we eat chicken? I am off liquids and was wondering if baked chicken would be ok as long as I chewed it super good. Lisa :-) surgery date: Dec. 4th, 2012 Are you on the pureed diet? My doc said if chewing was involved...dont even think about it...but I bought a Ninja to do all my chewing for me. My best friend had the RNY and she still cant eat chicken but that was the first I have ever heard of someone not tolerating a lean meat postop but it will be up to your body. I never had a pureed stage. 1st 2 weeks was liquid only. Now I'm on soft solids. But I know I can have lunch meat. I am allowed to chew food now. Lisa :-) surgery date: Dec. 4th, 2012 Just make sure it is moist meat or add moisture to it. No larger than a pencil eraser and CHEW, CHEW, CHEW! I am at the same point in my recovery and eating soft foods. Not sure what bothered me last night but it made me so sick. My first day back at work today and I almost didn't make it because of the pain, felt like I wanted to vomit, wow, it really was awful. The only new food I had tried was cottage cheese..... So food rested today and didn't even have Protein until my lunch. Drank Water (although, still not enough) and waited until I got home to try anymore foods. Had some chicken broth tonight, small amount of mashed potatoes and water. So far all is well. So please add slowly and carefully. don't think I'll be trying cottage cheese again anytime soon! If a food upsets you give it at least 3 days before you try it again. I think I will try.scrambled egg tomorrow as my first soft food. charlismom229 9 Posted December 18, 2012 Just wanted to update everyone on my journey. I am 24 yo and had surgery on the 5th. Weight the day of surgery was 270 and last i checked on Sat i was 252. Almost 20 lbs! So exciting since i didnt really expect it to come off that quick. I have a 10month old daughter who is now home with me again after the surgery and she is definately helping me get my walking in. Taking care of her full time while my husband is at wok has not hurt at all but it does wear me out as my lil girl is 20lbs herself. I just keep telling myself, "i was carrying 20lbs on my body and now im just carrying it on my hip." this journey has been rough but well worth it and i am finding the positives. Thank you everyone for your posts. I dont write much on here but i love reading them all. Im glad to know im not alone when it comes to the smaller things like bowel movements and monthly cycles. Praying for you all as you continue your journies! 2 TDee and snow25 reacted to this
