I just wasn't sure if two of those shakes would be to much or to many carbs or calories or sugar..

No sugar and low sugar are fine.

For the calcium citrate I am using some samples I have from Bariatric Advantage, they are lozenges/chewables. Some companies have the chocolate chews for Calcium as well. Try to get calcium citrate with Vitamin D. For the rest of my Vitamins I am using Celebrate. My B12 is sublingual liquid.< /p>

I use Bariatric Advantage as well

Hello I am 10 days post op and going a bit bonkers to the point that I'm almost regretting I had this operation..but only for the reason that I'm confused...I'm on liquids still and that's fine with me..but when it comes to the Protein Drinks they just tell me to drink them so now the time has come and I feel like a basket case...I have pure Protein already mixed 11 ounce cans different flavors about 150-170 calories each 1-4 grams of carbs 1-2 grams of sugars and 34 grams of protein...question is are those ok to drink..can I drink a whole one for a meal and should I drink 2 day so I can get all my protein in..I don't have anyone else to talk to my friend I told about the surgery already kinda turned her back on me so I am completely doing this alone...

I agree with the above answers. I am 6 days post op and try to do 2 shakes a day if I can drink that much, sometimes takes me a while. My dr said I could do up to 3. That is low sugar, so no worries there and calories seem fine too since you are not taking in much else right now. Sorry to hear about your friend. Some people just don't understand, I have a few of those in my life too. She must have not been a true friend or maybe as she sees you happy she will come around again. Think about yourself right now and there are so many great people on this board with lots of advice and support, so ask anything you want. We all hope you have a great visit with your Dr on Monday. :)

I have some bruising but I'm not worried about it!

Yeah. I didn't think it was too big a deal, but it's kinda scary when you look at your incisions and they're all red and puffy! Lol. They are getting less puffy and bruised it seems, so I think I'm good. No temp or drainage or anything. :)

I finally came home from the hospital yesterday after surgery on Monday. My kidney function has gotten better since the surgery so that's the best non-scale victory I could ask for!! It's good to see everyone feeling better and better. I still very much need my pain meds unfortunately. I'm still on liquids and I'm drinking Isopure for Protein. It's actually pretty good and comes in different flavors. Non milk based, no carbs low sugar, with 40g of protein per bottle at GNC. Hope this helps those of you having trouble getting protein in.

Thank you so much...I've known this person for ten years she is 15 older than me she is like a mother a sister and my best friend...maybe she thinks I'm gonna get smaller than her I don't know but she is really the only one I have since I've been through a lot of trauma on childhood and then in my marriage..so I tend to keep people at arms length..so this really hurts..that she trading me this way now...oh well..oh wow sorry about ranting on you..

But the pain will pass...i would rather go thru a short struggle pain than the rest of my life of major health issues....here is my Biggest Reason for doing this...3yrs ago at age 45 I was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer...it was Hell going thru radiation 5 days a week for 10 wks plus 2 rounds of internal radiation that were 3 days at a time and chemo every week...although I've been in remission for 2 1/2 years it put me on the couch feeling drained..moving less everyday..gaining 50 lbs and now dealing with more serious health issues...I'vE finally decided I've gone thru too much to just sit back and let high blood pressure or diabetes take over! I'm 49...I'm not ready to croak yet! I am disabled as I'm legally blind and have both my corneas transplanted....I'm not ready to give up yet!

Wow thanks for sharing! And you're right I keep hearing the pain will pass its just hard to believe right now and having never experienced anything like this before its hard... But your willingness to share gives me encouragement so thank you for that and best of luck to you

I am glad your kidney functions are better. I am on dialysis and have been for 3 years. I am not on the kidney transplant list because of my weight. My surgery was dec 5 and I've lost 17 pounds so far. 80 pounds to go.

Had my surgery on the 5th they sent me home on a liquid diet I see my surgeon Monday..everything just seems overwhelming..it wasn't to bad when I thought my friend would be here for me but for whatever reason she seems so distant since I went to the hospital

Had my surgery on the same day. I've always went out my way to do everything for everybody but after my surgery, some of the same people didn't even call to see if I needed anything. I know what you're going thru.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
