One trick is to weigh more in the first place. Hate to say that but I lost a TON at first but I started out at 307. Hang in there though... remember to eat your Protein first then the carbs, drink more Water then drink some more. Good luck!

It is an individual journey - and something that is hard to remember when you see that So-and-so lost 60 lbs in the first 90 days... It's great for So-and-so but it makes it hard when you have only lost 35 lbs in a whole year....

It sounds like you are doing most of the right things. If your calorie counts are that low, you might try taking in just a little bit MORE every once in a while. A rut is a bad thing. Your body adjusts pretty quickly to the amount of calories you give it. Change it up. Keep your body guessing.

Another thing to do is drink more Water, and get more sleep.

I am a horrid offender on not getting enough sleep - but that is when your body does most of it's self-repair and maintenance. It seems like when I get enough sleep, I lose weight. I don't know exactly how it works - but it does.

20 lbs in 23 weeks is only a little bit less than 1 lb per week. Considering you probably had at least 4 weeks with no fill, you have done ok. Remember 1-2 pounds per week is all you can reasonably expect.

Good luck!

I hit a plateau eating about 700 - 900 calories a day and exercising. I sat down with a guy at my local nutrition store and discovered I wasn't eating enough times per day. Your body will automatically adjust it's metabolism to keep you alive. Your body thinks you must be stranded in a desert somewhere!! :omg:

Now I eat something every 3 hours...mostly Protein. I probably eat about 1000 cals. a day but by eating those small portions throughout the day I have lost another 5 pounds within just a couple of weeks. Just an idea! My nutritionist told me to eat three times a day so I guess I am not following her plan..but this seems to be working in my favor.:clap2:

I think you're not eating enough to be honest. Try eating 1200 but exercising five or six times a week. Three is fantastic for your general health and wellbeing but to really see weight loss results you need a good hour of cardio five or six times a week. Try it, it will really make a difference.

And 20lb since the end of August is nothing to be sneezed at. Truly, weight lost slowly like that tends to remain lost, 40lb in a month is simply not true fat loss. I've been a slow loser too but a year down the track, I'm an entirely different person, just keep plodding away!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
