Actual Weightloss?

Recommended Posts

Is there someone out there who could tell me when I will actually see dramatic weightloss? I had my bypass/gall bladder removed 11-21-12 (and of course a week liquid diet prior)...lost 16 lbs from the liquid diet, gained 11 lbs from anaesthesia, lost those again so I know can say I have lost 17 total pounds since my pre op liquid diet... I'm confused...

Hello. Well first you have step back and take a moment. :). Everyone body's is not the same and the weightloss isn't the same. We all gain weight from the surgery, iv's etc... You will start to see major result usually 1st month and 3rd month. Most people have stalls during a time period after 6 weeks. It's not a miracle cure and you have to do your part with drinking tons of Water and eating lots of Protein. Can't wait to see your results!

Exercise!!!!! Even if its just a 30 minute walk EVERY day!!! I hated going to the gym but now it's my favorite part of my day. I'm challenging myself more and more and I can't believe what I've accomplished. I am about 6 months post op and I'm down 94 lbs.

Hi I'm 19 days post op. can anyone tell me the secret to loosing all that weight?

Hi! My advice is to follow the plan. WLS is a tool to help us, but we have to do work, too. I am 2 1/2 months post op and down 52 pounds. I exercise at least 4 days a week, most of the time more. Walking, jogging, hiking, basketball, and Zumba work for me. Also, hit those Protein targets. I try to get 80 to 90g of Protein a day. I start each morning with a Protein shake, then eat lunch and dinner.. Mostly Proteins. The weight will come off! Good Luck!!

Thanks so much for the advice snow. I'm a month post op and have lost 15lbs since surgery. My nutritionist said that because I couldn't eat at the beginning it slowed my weight loss :( I just can't seem to get the recommended levels in. Hopefully it changes as I can't wait to see results like everyone on here.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
