So Excited! Pureed/soft Foods

Recommended Posts

I'm excited! I meet with my dietician in the morning to see about progressing to puréed/soft foods stage. I'm so ready for stage 3 & 4 because I'm totally turned off by sweets and at this point and chicken broth / Soup is so boring. I can't wait to have a refried bean with tiny wedge of laughing cow cheese or salsa. A cream of something soup. I just want to switch it up. And I can't wait to do Zumba again! My 3wk post op appt is next tues. I'm so excited!! :)

I love how you wrote "a refried bean" like that's probably all you can eat anyway. Lol. "Cream of something". I bet anything else will do right now. Can't wait to be on your side. Congratulations on graduating to the next level!

Lmbo! I know right! I'm just so amazed at how little I eat and how my husband keeps saying "that's all?" In disbelief. It feels like you can only eat a spoonful before you're full. Yes... Anything other than sweets. Thanks! You'll be over here before you know it!

Yeah its amazing what I used to eat before compared to now! And drinking too. I could down a huge glass in seconds. Now sip sip sip. All day long. Its also amazing how LITTLE a person actually needs to live. Now I finally get that ridiculously small serving size concept for food!

I crack up at this all the time. I'm so excited to have cream of chicken Soup today (strained). Lol. Never in my life would I be excited over cream of chicken soup unless there was stuffing and chicken under it. :-).

Worm, I'm laughing now! My appointment went well! My husband was cracking up at the sight of me being ecstatic about being able to eat eggs for Breakfast today. My dietician was cracking up at me yet so proud of all my choices and whatnot. This is definitely a reset on life. I'm truly thankful for it! I'm just terrified of trying new things constantly now. Lol... But at least When I go back to work next Tuesday, I'll be eating semi normal.

Its odd. I've found myself going back to broth. I know what I got with it and it fills me. My pouch is happy for that. Protein Drinks are soso. oatmeal is ok but you can't eat much. Few bites is all. Good time to save on groceries for Christmas gifts! How did your eggs go? Im kinda scared to go there.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
