First Time Posting

Recommended Posts

Hi to all,

I have been reading posts made by everyone for a couple of months now and my insomnia has finally lead me to post a little about me...

I recently began my WLS journey. I attended the discovery seminar, the welcoming meeting, and my first appointment with the dr and dietician. My insurance covers the surgery but I do have to do the six month supervision prior. It seems like a life time away. I am going to admit to you all I am terrified of failing. I have failed at so many other things... Can I do this and be successful forever?

I have become so ashamed of my appearance and weight that I have alienated myself from so many people I feel sort of alone in this. I am really hoping to find some friends here.

I appreciate everyone who took the time to read my post.

Good luck in your weight loss journeys!

P.S. I am having a hard time uploading a profile picture so I attached one :) it's always nice to see who your talking to.

Kell

welcome, so glad you posted. there is a wealth of info and support here. The waiting seems to be the hardest part. Doing the six month diet, jumping through all the hoops. You just have to tell yourself it is practice for the rest of your journey.

Please ask questions let us know how we can help. We are all in this together.

Hugs to you and again Welcome.

Oh sweetie, don't be ashamed of yourself there is no need to be !!! THINK POSITIVE because there is power in positive thinking !!. Don't be afraid of failure because we all have failed at something. Just do the very best you can and give it 100% and you will be a success. You took the first step in WL, once you have the surgery it is easy after that, you follow what your doctor has instructed you to eat, exercise and the weight will come off. RNY does not allow you to over eat, this surgery is a tool to help you meet your WL goals it is not a cure, you have to work with it.

You have support here with this group, we all have been down the WLS road and are here for support. Welcome :)

Hello & welcome to the group. It will fine. Surgery day will be here soon. I was like that I didn't do the six months but I was waiting & felt like forever but bam!! May 30, 2012 came & now almost 6 months later from 211lbs to 127lbs nothing is impossible. I haven't gain anything even when I get swollen before my period. I weight my self every Monday morning after I pee. I do hit a stall but I rather stall then gain weight. I feel great. You will also.

Kellbell: your post sounds exactly like me. I hate myself and I am ashamed of being at this state. It consumes me. I'm doing much better about it. My surgery was last week and even felt like I was being punished when I had to have a second surgery for a stricture. Things are ok now. But I hear you. This board has been a tremendous help. Please reach out if you have any questions or just need a pep talk. You have already found friends!!

Hi everyone this is my first time posting as well. I have been reading the posts for some time now and decided it was time to say hi to everyone. I am at the beginning of my wls journey, I have been to a gastric bypass orientation and have been taking a weight management class for 5 weeks with 2 more weeks to go. Then I will still have several more steps to go thru before I see the surgeon. I live in Oregon and am going thru Kaiser Permanente. I did not realize how long it would be before I finally could have the surgery and at this time do not have a surgery date yet. Hopefully soon but not holding my breath. A little background. I have fought my weight since I was 16 now I am 50. Like everyone else diet after diet. Loosing over and over to just gain it back. This is my hope to finally live a healthy thinner life! Trying to be patient but getting anxious about the process. It's hard to wait so long! Lol. Anyway hi nice to meet you all and hope to talk more soon! Dawn

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
