Thanks ladies, I am doing everything that I should be doing. I don't eat until I get the "full" feeling but I do eat what I think is enough. I have lost 35 lbs so far.

My surgery was 10/1/12 and I have lost 40 lbs, so I know how you feel. It came off pretty fast at first but now it is creeping slowly. I guess as long as it is moving in the right direction. It probably didn't help that it took the whole first week postop to get back to my preop weight (I came home from the hospital with 8 extra lbs of Fluid - not included in the 40). The nurse said at this point 20-30% weight loss is normal, I am at 20%. It is kind of discouraging because I lost 44 lbs in the 3 months before surgery. I just need to remember that I could not have maintained that without the surgery. I know I need to step up my excercise. I was walking pretty regularly but the weather in Ohio has curbed that lately. I get a free months membership to my Hospitals Wellness Center along with a training session, so hopeful this will help me kick start a new routine. Going back to work has thrown me off too, I work 3 12hr nightshifts a week. Trying to figure out how to get the fluids, meals, and Vitamins in. I'm just going to keep plugging along, hope you will too!

Im 11 or so weeks out and just out of a 3 week stall- where i tired hard to stay positive. I just kept thinking that my body was probably in shock with small potions/healthy food/ exercise that it suddenly had to deal with.

I put the scale a way for a week and was happy to see a 5 lb lost after that! Sometimes its hard to understand why my weight is not dropping off.. But slowly slowly it will . And will do so for u too! !!!

I know how you feel. I gained 30 lbs of Water weight after my 3 surgeries. I am still waiting to get to my preop weight. I hope I do get there!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
