I've been trying to balance on a two legged stool for many years, one leg diet the other exercise. At times I did good, my weight would come down, I felt good. Then for me it was usually diet, Portion Control or lack of. And I would start to creep back up tilting the stool till the leg would break and I would fall, and I would be right back where I started from. I would usually keep on exercising, always like the feeling.

My hope is I found the third leg to my stool WLS. I made up my mind to have RNY Bypass surgery. From what I understand the surgery will give me a new tool, a pouch. And like any tool I need to learn how to use it. I've heard lots of scuttlebutt about when to eat, when to drink, and how much time to take between eating and drinking, how many times to eat, how much to drink and what to eat and drink and what not eat and drink....

It looks like I have a lot to learn. But first I need to do what I can to get the surgery scheduled psych eval on Monday...

I'm kind of like you... my weight had gone up and down, I do love to exercise and have always done so. I felt WLS was the way to go so I would stop the yo-yo dieting and lose the weight once and for all. I am almost 8 months post op and this is the best thing I ever done. You should have no problem because you like to exercise and once you are cleared to exercise it feels so good and the weigth melts off once you start.

BB how soon could you exercise post surgery? Walking is immediate but I know I will be counting the days until I can get back to the gym. Surg is Tuesday & I forgot to ask the surgeon on my preop visit. I just want a general idea re time.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
