So When I went on vacation I over heard my husband talking to his sister about me having gastric bypass here I thought he supported my decision well guess I was wrong he doesn't think it's a good ideal which I understand why because his sister had lots of trouble after she had it done and later passed away but she had more trouble then I have either way I am so glad I found this support room and I have my son

Jenn

He is scared of losing you. It is very normal. I am sure he wants to be supportive but he is scared. Don't let it offend you or derail you. Just know that he loves you.

Men are like that. If his sister die of course he doesn't want you to die just imagine.

My husband is scared, too. He supports me, but he's been avoidant because of fear. I wanted him to go to support group with me, but I think he just couldn't deal yet. He did mention my RNY to a coworker and the coworker told him that his wife also had weight loss surgery by my doctor and that the doctor was great and came highly recommended. When he told me this, I could tell it was something that gave him some relief. I think the support groups would do our spouses all some good.

My boyfriend is the same way. He's very supportive, but it's a touchy subject for him. He's worried about all the things that could happen. It's good that they worry, it shows that they love you :)

My husband left the entire decision up to me. He has been so supportive throughout this whole process. I am so blessed to be his wife. A good support system is KEY! Our relationship has only gotten better since the surgery (because I'm happier with me).

My husband, although he is alittle nervous, supports me fully! He has seen my struggles with back pain and would rather have me have the surgery than end up in a wheelchair by 45 years old. My kids are also very supportive and excited for me. My girls talk about what fun shopping will be when I lose the weight! I honestly don't know if I could do it without the support of my family! :)

My husband is super supportive, many of his coworkers and their wives have had RNY or sleeve. He is how ever nonchalant about the what it's and problems that can happen. I wish he would read up on it more just so if I have any trouble he can see the symptoms and know what's going in with me!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
