6 Months Out And Still Have Tummy Upset

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery 5-12-12 and still dealing with tummy upset and vomiting. I have very few foods I can eat. I went into surgery weighing 316 and I am 205 today. The weight lose is gear , but my good days are far and few between. My highest weight 4 years ago was 400.

That's probably my biggest fear- not ever feeling better. I'm two and a half weeks out, still battling soft liquid foods. Not necessarily nausea, but I don't like how it feels when I eat. Doc said focus on Water intake first, then Protein, then soft liquid foods if I can, but let's face it, if all I can ever tolerate is water I'll die.

I'll be following this thread, looking for inspiration and hope.

Girl I swear we are in the same church chour :) I have been in the hosiptal twice in the past two week. They finial found that I have two stamples going into my pouch which was causing pain were every time I ate or drank it felt like knife in my chest and stomach. They also found that my small intestines are enlarged. They are hoping that will go down but if not or if the pain does not go away I might have to have a feeding tube put in. I am hoping not. I just want to be better and get a life outside of the house without taking a bag or pills :)

I was only four days out but had a stricture in my small intestine. Let me tell you, you can't tolerate even Water. So make sure your dr know all the details. I had another surgery yesterday now it seems like it's just the pain meds making me sick.

There are about three different prescriptions they can offer you as well. One is a patch for behind the ear. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
