jpr99 17 Posted November 21, 2012 My surgery is on Dec 4th and I'm wondering if it's possible that I can go back to work on the 17th. Is that to soon? I basically sit at a desk all day, but do have to ability to get up and move around when need be. My first post op appointment is the 14th so I guess I'll know if my doc will allow me to go back. Thanks John
Rhonda 6 Posted November 21, 2012 Should be fine if desk bound. I work in shipping in a warehouse so I had to wait four weeks. Good luck!

BBdoodle 483 Posted November 21, 2012 I had surgery on a Monday (April 9) and went back to work the following Monday, so I was off one week. I have a desk job, I went to work in the a.m. and then worked from home in the afternoon. I was very lucky that I was able to do that with my job. I did not want to be on disability because they do not pay your full salary. Everyone is different, I had no complications and felt pretty good.

Shannalee 65 Posted November 21, 2012 I am wondering the same thing. I have been saying that I want to stay out for 4 weeks but then I think about it and know that maybe after 1-2 weeks I could go back to work. I sit at a desk most of the day and if something needs done that is heavy or anything I know that I have plenty of people to help. It will be interesting just how long I can stand being away from work and how I will feel then. Congrats on your date and I wish a speedy recovery
4SFLFDS 59 Posted November 21, 2012 I was ready to go back after a week--but, I decided w help if my surgeon to work from home till 3 weeks--that got me through the liquid Phase which takes a lot of effort and onto soft foods.

mom2lucky (suznc) 81 Posted November 22, 2012 I'm planning for 4 weeks out. My doc recommends that amount of time to fully adjust to new lifestyle. I have to go to a 1 day seminar 9 days after surgery but will still be on liquids. I also will have to coordinate a work project due Dec 21 while I'm out. I have the sick time so I'm gonna use it plus I will get through Christmas too.
