Struggling With Pre-Op Diet

Recommended Posts

Its overwhelming sometimes. I'm supposed to lose 30lbs before January. I'm struggling staying on track to 1200cal/day. I'm too hungry, so I still end up eating more even though its from my pre-op food list. I'm keeping up with all my appts, physical therapy (I had back surgery 2yrs ago) and trying to be active. Anyone else not make their goal? I'm afraid ill get booted if I don't make goal . Ugh.

it is hard to stay on that diet. do you have myfitnesspal? it helped me a lot to stay on track. I worried the whole time about not losing the weight they wanted me too. I know

that if you gain it can be an issue an insurance and your surgeon can deny you. stay determined in why you are having the surgery and set yourself some little goals to achieve. also try substituting one or two meal with Protein Shakes and that will help as well. good luck!!!!

My team doesn't care how I lose the weight, just that I do lose it. I put myself on Slimfast and felt the same way you're describing. My momma (who was the coordinator of bariatric surgery for 4 years, and is 2 years post op) saved me! I blend some ice with light V8 fusion and a scoop on powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored Protein powder. I am so much less hungry!

30lb before Jan is totally do-able! tough but do-able. I think it will be especially hard since there is xmas in the middle there, but you can do it!! I have surgery in 2 sleeps, and I have lost 27lb in 6 weeks. Optifast x2 a day, plus one meal of Protein the size of your palm and as many veges as you want. No sugar, no fat, lots of celery with HOMEMADE salsa (its important its homemade cos the store bought always has lots of sugar in it. Switch to Stevia to sweeten things, sugarfree Jelly. Eat as many veges as it takes to be full. I keep a bag of tomatoes at my desk at work. people think I am insane but I am so so so hungry. I've also added extra walking into my commute. I was walking 1km each way, now up to 3km each way - it hurts and it sucks at first, but it is so worth it, and when you start to lose the weight and look better in your clothes it will be totally worth it and a taste of whats to come post op.

I believe in you! keep in contact and we can work through this together. It is so hard, and sometimes you'll need sympathy, and sometimes you will need a kick in the butt. add me to your myfittness pal - I only just started using it but it has been really helpful. my username is pwnykat

Hi I added you on my fitness pal app.thank you! My team has me on a specific diet and do care how I lose it so it's sustainable habits. I also had my 20th anniversary and 40th birthday trips in 1 month and traveling is challenging. One day at a time but I'm not near goal. Ugh. Keep the suggestions coming.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
