I had crystal light today for the first time since my surgery. I had the raspberry lemonade flavor. I had maybe 1/4 the bottle and then I started to get really hot and my stomach started to bother me and I had to run to the bathroom. What happened? Was sugar free. My surgery was nov 2nd 2012.

I had rny on nov 5 th, crystal light and any other kind of tea seem to get my intestines going, having had a slow bowel anyway, they've really helped me stay regular, not sure if this helps at all, but I've shared the experience xoxo

I'm preop, but I have IBS and artificial sweetener does this to me. So much so that I can not do chewable vitamins.< /p>

I haven't been able to handle Crystal light either. The only thing I found that I can drink and like is sugar free Hawaiian Punch singles to Go. The fruit Juicy Red Flavor. I got some Grape flavor and for some reason that made my stomach upset. I think with the Crstal light for me it's the citrus in it.

My mom said that it may be the citrus in it. I used to love crystal light raspberry lemonade. I hope I will again some day.

I used to love crystal light as well but have found since surgery it is just too sweet for me. My NUT said tastes would change after surgery.. Bummer though. I have about 6 boxes of the packets!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
