cwctx 26 Posted November 16, 2012 I had my RNY on 11/5 and after a rough start things are now going well. However,my lower abdomen, especially the area of my left "love handle" is very swollen still. It's uncomfortable and makes it awful to try wear jeans or slacks. How long does it usually take for this to resolve? Also, I am still having to sleep in a reclining chair because it is uncomfortable to lay down, even with lots of pillows. Anyone else have this problem? cwctx 26 Posted November 16, 2012 Nope, incisions are good, and no fever. Just swollen and uncomfortable.
LosingItForMe2011 320 Posted November 17, 2012 I slept in a recliner for over a month but, like Lebim I ended up with an incision infection that was too uncomfortable to lay flat with. I wore sweatpants most of my recovery because the incision areas were pretty sore especially the infected one. You don't necessarily have to have a fever for an infection in an incision spot. I never had a fever but, I had one heck of an infection that had to be reopened in the doctors office and packed daily by a visiting nurse. Not saying that's what you have...but do pay attention for signs though. Anyway...you're still not that far out from your surgery so sleeping in the recliner if it makes it so you can rest....keep doing it.
