Ugh! I pulled something. I went for my two week check up today and must have gotten in or out of my jeep wrong. Right below my right boob. (I know TMI) Oh wow does it hurt. I was fine!! Use this as a warning Just take it easy!! Ugh!! Can't even take pain meds. They give me a rash. Here's hoping children's Tylenol works!

Definitely u need to be pooing and passing gas. I put a hot compress on my belly quite a bit. Helps relieve soreness and I pass gas. Gas x has helped me to the chewables.< /p>

My surgeon said that walking a lot makes a difference for gas and bowel movements. I find that after a lot of activity the feces rolls on through along with the gas. farting made me feel so much better. It reduced a lot of bloating.

I am 8 days out of surgery. Here is what my conundrum is. So I can eat' date=' but drinking seems to be a problem. Some of my favorite foods are eggbeaters with shredded cheese and low fat sour cream it is about 10g of protien I am able to eat and really mushy and tasty. Also mashed potatos with a dollop of cream of chicken and and shredded cheese and sour cream. Unfortunately I think i am only getting about 30g of protien and 30oz of Water. The feeling of fullness is so different from liquid to mush. I don't have any pain unless I drink anything cold...my pouch is not happy with cold. Soup is better. My bowels are moving woo-hoo! The period has finally ended. Anyone else having these issues and found a way to get more fluids. Sometimes I wish I could just go in for a weekly IV since I am worried about getting dehydrated.[/quote']

I have found puréed Soups a lifesaver. I purée high-protein lentil soup from progresso soup. I use the blender. I also drink unsweetened soy milk, which is high-protein. This is working for me.

I'm 5 days post op... still pretty sore... but moving pretty well. I think my biggest problem is I overdo it when I'm up and pay for it later... anyway' date=' I have a couple of concerns... I still haven't taken a poo... sorry if this is TMI.... and I've barely passed gas the last few days. I'm so uncomfortably bloated I can barely stand it... and to top it off... the scale hasn't budged a bit... actually I've gone up 3 lbs... I'm starting to freak out and I feel like it didn't work. I know I need to be patient and let my body heal but I'm frustrated and scared that I've gone through all of this for nothing.......[/quote']

You wrote exactly how I feel. The scale finally started going down but it's barely back to where I was when I went in. I am not losing and I thought I would be. I'm so scared.

It will get better, I promise. I am 9 days post op. I had complications following surgery and was in the hospital for three extra days. When I came home I felt horrible, had buyers remorse, and wasn't losing at all. The past couple of days I've felt well enough to walk, get all my Protein and all my Fluid. I was 334 before surgery, 329 on Monday and am 311.4 today. It will come off. Let your body heal...you've just had major surgery. It will happen when your body decides its time.

I'm in the same boat. I gained 10 pounds with my two surgeries. I've lost that and about 15 more but I'm now standing still. I'm trying to be positive as well.

I think that as we get the protein/fluid intake more in balance, our bodies will release the weight. It seems to take a long time to get the protein/fluid intake levels to what they should be. I do find that every day I am able to increase the amount of fluids and Proteins. Here are some high-protein ideas I am using:

(1) obviously Protein Shakes, such as Boost

(2) Progresso's vegetarian, low-fat lentil soup: pureed. At first I had to dilute the puree with Water but now I don't. This is very high Protein and I find it easy to get down. You can mix in some Protein Powder to increase the protein. Adding some chicken broth can enhance the flavor. It took me 1.5 days to finish a can offering two servings!

(3) unsweetened soy milk - it seems to offer 1 gram of protein for every ounce of Fluid. 8 ounces = 8 grams of protein. Plus it's liquid.

There are some other Progresso Soups that are high in protein. The advantage of the lentil Soup is that it is low in terms of sugar grams. Some of the high-protein Progresso soups have more sugar grams. So I'm sticking mainly to the lentil soup. Does anyone know of any other Progresso soups that are high protein but low in sugar grams?

I've found that exactly 7 days after surgery, I have lost exactly 7 pounds - a pound a day. I am happy with that weight loss.

I remain bloated. My abdomen is very bruised. But each day I feel a bit better.

Wishing everyone success.

One thing to note: my nutritionist told me to AVOID Soups after recovery because it is easy to drink the calories. But during the recovery period, I literally have to drink my calories. So I am using the soups (pureed) for recovery. Plus I'm going to use my own judgment and yes, in life, sometimes I will eat soup!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
