Tricare Anyone?

Recommended Posts

I have Tricare prime. I don't have approval yet, and everything was sent in on Nov 4. My doctor's office messed up and forgot to attach the surgical referral form, so that was sent today. I will let u know, but others have said 3-5 days. Good luck

Thanks. I'm so fed up with waiting. I'm starting to get discouraged. I'm tired of being so overweight and uncomfortable ALL the time. Well good luck to you. I would love to hear how it goes. Good luck to you.

I have tricare prime as well and I was at Point Mugu. It took 6 months of seeing my PCP and going through all the steps, once all the steps met their requirements my dr submitted, I went online the very next day and it was approved.

My request has been sitting at Tricare Prime since Nov 14 and "in process"! I had to do no supervised diet , etc just BMI 35+ and sleep apnea as pre requisite. I am hoping for surgery in mid Dec.

I am kinda flipping out. I have Tricare standard and I was told that Tricare would cover everything. I'm guessing that was just the surgery because I just got a bill in the mail for almost 800 bucks for all the pre surgery lab work. Has this happened with any one else?

Just call tricare themselves so you can see why you got a bill. It could be paperwork not crossing in time or a simple error of tricare not being billed correctly or the referring dr.s info might not be showing up as requesting the lab work..

Usually the dr, hospital or whoever is needing paid did not code it properly or they try to get u to pay the difference that Tricare doesn't. They are to accept the contracted pay amount that the hospital or Dr's have already agreed upon. They cannot bill u.

Same thing happened with me. I have tricare prime remote and I am doing the waiting game. But before I was getting bills saying i needed to pay for this and that. It was the wls's billing dept that didn't code it correctly and also didn't put in the correct information. They put down my info as the grantor. So I would call their billing dept.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
