I was wondering if anyone is drinking muscle milk as their Protein Shake? I picked one up at school today because I forgot my premier nutrition shake at home. There's 25g/protein and 9 carbs (but 1g dietary Fiber so technically 8 carbs) and 3g of sugar.

I think it tastes SOOO sweet even though there's so little sugar. I wanted to try the Cookies n cream flavor but even vanilla tastes insanely sweet

I tried Muscle Milk a few times. Right after surgery it made me want to vomit, had to throw it out. Now I can drink it but I do not like it, It was ok before surgery when I tried it when I was prepping for the surgery and buying stuff. It is getting so I do not like the premier ones from costco anymore, I just think drinking them so often (3 times a week) is doing that to me. I guess it might be important to mix up what drink I am having because they are starting to make me ill, very very weird.

I have heard that it's a good way to get in your Protein. Less sugar than most other drinks. A friend of mine who had the surgery said to take half of the container and mix it with regular soy milk. This way the sweetness is cut in half but I know that after surgery your taste buds might be different. I am switching to those after my current Protein Drink is done. I am trying to get in less sugar and more protein before my surgery next year. I'd say if you can handle the sweetness then you could do it once in a while.

I couldn't do the fruity drinks they sent me home with. Truly upset the applecart... So my wife got me MuscleMilk Lite Ready To Drink.

They have 100 calories no sugar and 15g of Protein. And the best part is they go down easy and I can get most of my Protein between them and yogurt. I'm 8 days post op today and since surgery have lost 18lbs.

Good luck,

Andy H.

I love muscle milk! I use the chocolate powder and mix one every morning with skim milk and a scoop of peanut putter. I've had the Cookies and cream too which was good. They also have a mocha latte that I wanted to try but found out it has caffeine in it so I passed.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
