music1618 879 Posted November 13, 2012 I have a few sips every once in a while. Depending on the day depends on how I felt. My surgeon said that there is no chance in stretching the pouch with having a few sips. I will get the glass bottles I coke an have those from time to time. jenneliza 257 Posted November 13, 2012 Is any one drinking pop I want one really bad. I know they are bad for the pouch and all but just wondering what and if others have tried them it drink them. My surgeon and nutritionist both said that they can stretch the pouch. I did try a sip of almost flat diet Pepsi and it hurt. It was like sandpaper in my pouch. No thanks... I miss it too but just can't do it.
TinyMamiOf3kids 1,280 Posted November 13, 2012 I had more then a few sips but not worth it. I quit all together. I love Water & crystal light
crc0710 15 Posted November 13, 2012 If you want a clear diet soda or at least the taste of it, I have found that mixing it with Jello (instead of the cold water) works well. The secret is to mix the hot Water (directions on the box) and before adding the diet clear soda, let it stand for one minute. Then follow the directions (no cold water) This way you get the taste but not the carbination.
BBdoodle 483 Posted November 13, 2012 I was a diet pepsi lime addict before surgery.... that is all I would drink. It was a big change for me to give up diet sodas. But I had to, I'm 7 months post op and I have a sip every now and then and now it tastes really chemically to me. I don't think a sip would hurt you just cant go back to the way you use to drink soda. And if you drank lots of regular soda that now has way too much surgar and you should not be drinking something that has that much sugar.

maria pepe 29 Posted November 14, 2012 I stopped drinking soda 1 1/2 years before my surgery...nutrasweet gives me Migraines. Soda inhibits Calcium absorption.
MrsCaluza 14 Posted November 14, 2012 I miss the fuzziness. I didn't even really drink soda before my surgery but I love those clear fizzy Fruit Drinks. But I'm afraid of stretching my pouch.

Vicki Loichinger 444 Posted November 17, 2012 Seven years ago when I was banded, I was the biggest diet pepsi holic in the world. Hubby is sure the pepsi stock went down when I quit drinking it. I was a two fister, had my son bring me two one for now and one to be at the ready when the first one was done. Gave it up and never went back. Even without restriction in my band I just don't do it, And now that I am going to be revised from band to RNY I am glad that is something I have already conquered. Crystal light is my go to. because I just can't drink plain Water, it strangles me, so I drink 2 qrts of crystal light a day at least, 1 LA GP reacted to this
