speedydvr 25 Posted January 28, 2013 Hey!... I'm in New Bern!... Ok right at this moment I'm in Kandahar Afghanistan but still I live in New Bern. Who did your surgery?... I ended up going to see Dr Bruce with Cary surgical just cause the crowd there at Physicians East in Greenville didn't impress me at all
snow25 188 Posted February 2, 2013 Hey Speedy! I'm in New Bern, too. I went with ECU Physicians. They were very thorough and I feel like surgery went well, but they are not personal at all. I feel like now that its done I'm on my own. How long have you been in Afganistan? Be safe and congrats on your weight loss so far!
speedydvr 25 Posted February 2, 2013 That's the same way that I felt about the staff at Physcians East... I'm really glad I went with who I did. Granted I had very limited contact with Dr Bruce himself other than the surgery and pre/post op appts his staff is what pleased me the most. They took care of every concern I had and when I told them that I was headed back here they helped me out without question. I'm actually a contractor for NATO doing med evac flights for the civilians working here in Afghanistan... Been here a few months now but I've been working in the Middle East since 2006 primarily in Iraq as a paramedic for a security company. I took a year off so I could have my surgery and get healthy and now I feel better than I did in my 20's!
snow25 188 Posted February 2, 2013 Sounds like you are leading a pretty exciting life. I feel pretty great, too. I have more energy than I have had in quite some time. Looking forward to getting back into shape. I lead a pretty active life, even with the weight, but I'm ready to shed it all. I've started running 3 times a week, only 15 minutes right now, but I'm doing it. I play basketball in a women's league one night a week, and every Sunday my son and I hike. Last weekend we did 6 miles on the mountain to sea trail. We are training to start the AT in June. My son s 5 and a nature lover. We are going to section hike the AT. I am hoping to finish it by the time he graduates high school. The surgery has given me motivation to get active and fit. Headed to the mtns to go snowboarding in a couple weeks. Loving it all. I've been in New Bern for a year and a half. I moved her for my teaching job, but I'm not sold on it. It's great to be close to the beach, but I'm a mountain gal. I'm planning back to Asheville in June. Praying that job, house, etc. fall into place, but I really miss the mountains and community of friends and family there. teresab9712 8 Posted February 10, 2013 I'm from Newton Grove NC. Dr. Enochs in Cary (same practice) did my surgery on 9/7/12.
softballmomof4 5 Posted February 18, 2013 Dr. Tyner is doing my band removal to RNY on 2/19/13. I think this is an awesome practice!!! Much much better than the doc I had for lapband. I haven't met Dr. Enoch but Dr Bruce was my sleep study doc and he's terrific! Anyone with band to RNY? How long we're your hosp stays? Anyone go to Rex? Do you remember how long the doc booked the OR? Dr. Tyner has 4 - 4 1/2 hours for me. Isn't that kinda long?
teresab9712 8 Posted February 18, 2013 Dr. Enochs did my RNY with the robot at Rex and scheduled the OR for 4 to 41/2 hours. I think it's pretty standard time frame ...may not take entire time, but standard scheduling procedure. My surgery was on Friday and went home on Sunday. (Mine did not include band removal, just RNY.)
softballmomof4 5 Posted February 19, 2013 I'm going to Rex tomorrow but no one said anything about a robot! When did you hear about the robot? Before surgery or when you got to Rex?
teresab9712 8 Posted February 19, 2013 I'm going to Rex tomorrow but no one said anything about a robot! When did you hear about the robot? Before surgery or when you got to Rex? Dr. Enochs thought I was a good candidate for robotic surgery. This was discussed and planned for at least a month before my surgery date. Good luck!
