What Was Your Biggest Misconception About Surgery?

Recommended Posts

The mood swings come from estrogen. Quite common. Estrogen is stored in fat and as you burn fat the estrogen is released. You are actually quite fertile at this time as well...hang in there. I cried over everything the first 4 months. I had a plethora of different emotions inside of me!

Lol, I have been bugging my husband something awful! I have baby fever worse than I've ever had before and I have 1 1/2 y.o. twins. My husband said Thank God he's snipped or we'd have quadruplets by now. Before my surgery I had the problem of producing way too much testosterone and not enough estrogen. I'm wondering if that problem is coming back.

I had my surgery on Nov 9th. Whoever said that this would be easy didn't know what they were talking about. I thought that getting my Fluid in would be a breeze! There are days that I feel like I urinate more that I drink. My Protein is not getting in. My left side hurts all the time. The only weight I have lost is the weight I gained from surgery. I'm very depressed right now. UGH

I thought I wouldn't be able to eat sweets ever again. I thought I would have issues with dumping/vomiting. I've had no problem with either.

After reading so many posts through out this website and others I thought for sure weight loss would be quicker for me but, nope. Then again why I thought that when I've struggled my whole life to lose no matter what diet I was on....but, I'm still happy with it now that I've accepted that at least I'm losing. Not every week and the pounds are stubborn coming off but, heck I'm smaller than when I started so that's a good thing.

I thought eating and drinking would be easier as long as I chewed but, it is a chore. It's not enjoyable to me anymore...which truthfully isn't a bad thing in my opinion.

It is hard to get the Fluid in and some days I'm not successful. I find I get so busy at work and now that the hunger pangs don't happen...I'm lucky I remember to eat or drink.

This journey is going to be a long one for me...but, still it's a journey I'm glad I'm on :)

I never knew it would be this hard....I read a lot before I had the surgery but I never heard all the problems.....

I have Constipation all the time....I was the most normal bathroom person now I hardly ever go....

I have nausea all the time...if I don't take my medicine I can't eat. My doctor said that some people have it for the first 3 months. I am 2 months out so I'm hoping it's going to stop.

It's hard for me to get my liquids and Protein in. It's a battle everyday. But all in all I've lost 40 pounds I'm back in 2 clothes I haven't been in 4 years so I gotta get through this first few months and maybe it will get better.....

Yes indeed I did. Post opp 8 days. It's normal to fear the unknon. Let me quote my Dr. Monash, Tucson, Az. He told me when he handed me my Bypass Bible that if I follow the instructions I will do great. I have and feel great my only pain and discomfort is from the Staples in my stomach, Manley in the left side. I had my week check up on 14th and was told that was nothing to worry about. On the left side of my stomach area is 2 larger staples

Connected to my large muscle. It will go away. You should get a binder that gives you exactly what you should do. After 3 weeks you will be able to start on solid food. Your diet will consist of liquids, Jello, broth, and Protein drinks. Must take in 84 grams a day, and 64 oz of Fluids. Try to put a full 64 oz of Water daily. My surgery was Gastric Bypass Surgery. Hope this helps. Contact me anytime. Good Luck!

Bob, USMC.

My fears were that I would not make it, by was assured by my Dr. I would be fine. He was right lol. I've never regurgitated once so far. My Dr told me that if I follow the instructions I won't. He also said that people who throw up off and on is due to eating things with too much sugar in the product. I feel that after surgery it will not be as bad as you think. I went home the same day of surgery. I know that it's probably an exception, but be positive. It will be better, that's a promise.

Were close together. I had my GBS on the 7th on Nov. I'm sorry your having difficulty. Have you discussed this with your Dr. ? It will in time get better. I take little sips of fluids and wait like 10 minutes allowing it to settle in stomach. Need a ear, I'm hear.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
