Catgyrl68 66 Posted November 12, 2012 I'm going through the list of procedures that I will need to have done, should I be approved for RNY. Just the thought of being only halfway sedated and knowing they're sticking this tube down my throat is giving me anxiety. Even more anxiety than the actual surgery! LOL is it really as bad as it sounds?
s0s0u1fu1 2 Posted November 12, 2012 It's not bad. I just had mine done last Thursday. They put you to sleep. The procedure itself is only 20 mins. When I woke up I couldn't feel any pain. Just had a sensation to cough, but they gave me some 7-up for that.
kiwiladydee 402 Posted November 12, 2012 You do not feel anything. It's pretty easy and relaxing actually. No need to worry at all. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

OleHippieGal 275 Posted November 12, 2012 ok so i am weird. the EDG and a colonscopy i actually like having them. Love that twilight sleep, didnt feel anything with either. they gave me a little something to make me feel giddy before the EDG and i was talking crazy and had the surgeon and the others laughing before they put me under. its a very small dose and you feel nothing, it will not be the same stuff as they will give you for the actual surgery. i have had 2 scopes of each and never had any problems with either or felt any pain. these are test i dont mine doing
Catgyrl68 66 Posted November 12, 2012 Thank you so much, everyone! I feel much better now. I vaguely remember that my dad had this procedure done. One minute his throat was scratchy and hoarse, and the next he was chowing down on Breakfast. LOL
lovealways 287 Posted November 12, 2012 You won't feel or remember a thing! You're knocked out in 2 seconds I ate and went to class 3 hours after!

Rem 87 Posted November 13, 2012 I was so worried about it too! It was so simple. Hardest part was waiting in the bed in the hospital room. Doctor was about 45 minutes behind as it is so that was the only hard part. Once I got into the surgery room, they made me lay on my left side, made me gargle this nasty nasty nasty awful stuff. Then had to swallow this huge 2 tablespoon stuff, was the consistency of honey. That was the worst part. I dont remember anything, I was out like a light. Woke up in recovery and was fine. Just felt high from the drugs.
