With Thanksgiving being 11 days away I thought it would be good to start a thread to offer support and ideas for a day the involves so much temptation. Especially for those just starting their journey. So lets get this going with receipe ideas and lots of encouragement!!! :-)

I make a beautiful moist turkey on my big green egg ceramic grill. Rub the skin and then go u der the skin and rub the meat with a mixture of spices like Basel minced garlic sea salt onion powder with olive oil. Then take sliced onion chunks and chucks of green apples and tuck inside cavity and in every bend plus under then skin. Cook all day long and low . Turkey like many dishes on thanksgiving can be low carb and small portions make it bariatric. I make a cauliflower broccoli casserole use a recipe I found on a low carb sight just avoid the ones that add bread crumbs etc, sautéed spinach with minced almonds great low carb food. For dessert a splenda pumpkin pie with crushed almond as the crust. A few things to avoid so you don't make yourself sick are the sugery pies like pecan made with corn Syrup nonononononono choc ie etc also remember 50% of the enjoyment of potato is the toppings make it with cauliflower and you get a taste without dumping tip for cauliflower dry it after cooking and blend with food processor reheat then add butter and sour cream. Remember also the main change is ..................

STUFFING YOURSELF IS NOT AN OPTION !

Enjoy family and food but keep using your small plate and put your fork down between bites. Happy thanksgiving all.

I plan on just eating turkey and deviled egg and maybe a bite of mashed potato.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
