What Exercise Did You Do Today?

Recommended Posts

Didn't do organized exercise today, but took the stairs several times in effort to squeeze in some exercise. I'm trying to find a used treadmill so I can get up and jog in the mornings while my son is still sleeping. I want to start yoga as well. You've inspired me to get back into it!

Hey Tina Bree,

How is your exercise Quest going? Keep at it! Even if it is 10 minutes a day. Be like Nike... Just Do It!!

I run 4 miles a day, every day... I love to run :) sometimes I switch up and do my eliptical. I work out a minimum of 1 hour a day, I keep my heart rate up and thank my blessings that I can do all this at 54 !!!!

That's awesome... I'm 4 days post surgery. All I can tolerate right now is walking up and down my hallway for 10 minutes every 3-4 hours.

That is awesome! I hope that I can build up to that after surgery. For now, walking and stair climbing are my daily dose. Gotta get more exercise in!

i am three weeks post op and walked several miles yesterday. Today I am paying for it. My abdomen is very sore. But I can tell that the walking helped. Walking is the only thing I can do. I still am too sore to lift or move my arms a lot. I am eager to use the elliptical machines at the gym. These are my favorite exercise machines because they put less stress on the joints.

I do have to walk very slowly. When I first start walking my abdomen is very sore. But when I keep walking, that soreness seems to go away. I still have my drain in (and I am really tired of that drain but I had excessive bleeding) and I find that the hole in my abdomen that it goes through is very sore.

Didn't go to the gym yesterday or today, feeling run down with a cold. Plan to get back in there tomorrow and this post will help hold me to it.

I have to confess I have not done a thing today! It's dark out and raining. I know that's an excuse! I need to learn to just make the time. I am one of those that does not like to exercise. I will work on that.

I've been slack, too. Okay folks, we need to pick it up a notch! Lets all try to do 30 minutes of something today. Report in tomorrow. I may not report as I am going in for surgery today and may not be able to post. Lets get motivated to move! :0)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
