Horror Stories On Youtube

Recommended Posts

Anyone else watch all of the videos about the complications some people have had? I had a full on panic attack last night after an hour or so on YouTube. My husband has grounded me from YouTube until after surgery.

Yeah your Hubby. Don't blame him. I have watched some of the people preparing for and right after, I have avoided the horror stories. I know they exist. And I truly feel so bad for those that this goes so wrong for. But I am just rolling the dice that this surgery brings me better health instead of anything worse, How I feel now and the way I am NOT living, is a horror story in itself, so I will take the chance and hope and pray for the best.

I ground you from you tube too, lol. Stay strong.

Glad he grounded you. You can't stress yourself out watching the 1% of crap that can happen. We go through testing for a reason. So if you follow doctor's requirements, than everything should be good. is there bumps in the road after surgery, possibly. But worrying doesn't help your recovery. Have faith and enjoy your new journey.

if you look at the dates on those video's you will see that they are old, i saw some that were as old as in the 1998, those are folks that had the old RNY surgery, and not larpascopic. it freaked me out till i finally typed in current dates and the video's got better.

One thing I learned, if the person is depressed before surgery, they will be depressed after surgery.

its a tool not a cure all. I have stayed away from them.

The only video I watch was the one by my doctor on you tube and also his website where they showed what happens with the different surgeries. I think if I watched any other I would have need a klonpin and or an mental check because one thing I can do very good is make a mountain out of a mole hill. I can send you the website if you want to see a video from a doctor and I promise it is not a horror story at all.

If you are going to look at the horror stories, you should check out the other side - the success story. For every one bad story, there are several great ones.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
