Thinking of food as fun is what landed us all in the g Astros bypass seat! Think of food as fuel and as a friend you unfortunately you can't ha out with anymore. The minute you start missing food your bill gain ad really get discouraged! Keep it up!!

I found other things to do. I never-ever read before books. I started reading & I love it! Cross word puzzles are my favorite. Since I can't eat like before there no point unless I'm feeding my kids & hubby to be in the kitchen. I eat like stew which I make delicious has a lot of Vitamins & as mention food is only fuel. I found out so much stuff I like besides eating Lolz... I always love shopping but now I'm matching Lolz. Idk about others but it's fun not to knocks things down to fit in the section not sucking in my tummy. I love this new life change. Thankyou gastric bypass!!!

The other girls hit the nail on the head. I have found exercise to be of great enjoyment now... used to hate it!!! Just started swimming again after not doing so in about 20 years. We have an indoor pool in our town. Love it! As time passes the dwelling on food will cease. Good luck hun!!

I think at one point or another, everyone comes to that realization. I'm so thankful for this surgery! food and hunger used to dominate my life! Now, I've become more mindful of what I'm eating. I've had to search for fulfillment outside of food and discovered my love for swimming and Water aerobics. It is fantastic!

What I ment by fun is everyone (my family) celebrates every occasion with food and it use to be fun to chat with them but now its not fun to socialize. When everyones eating and I take 2 secs to eat I'm not sad that I can't eat I'm just sad because I feel left out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
