oldgiesser 0 Posted February 5, 2007 I have read on this forum about some taking Gas X after Surgery for the gas pains. My question is how do you get the gel tabs down,do you cut them or crush or what? Thanks for the replies in advance Terry
shutuplena 0 Posted February 5, 2007 Buy the strips - they melt in your mouth. They were a life saver.
Amelia40 0 Posted February 5, 2007 My Dr told me I can take my pills without cutting some of the smaller ones. Also in one of our support groups we discussed medications and we were told the gel tabs can be okay since they melt. Also if you are taking the gas-x for the pain in your shoulders from the gas they put in during surgery it will not help. Per my Dr there is nothing you can take for the pain or to relieve it. other than walking and a heating pad. I just had my surgery 1/31 and felt the shoulder pain immediately after surgery. Good Luck.
2bthinagn 3 Posted February 5, 2007 Also Gas X also comes in a chewable. And anyone reading this that hasnt had surgery yet (me) needs to remember.....one of the girls here said she told the anesthesiologist (misspelled i know) to push as much gas out before they were done with her. So maybe we need to do that. I have had shoulder pain from the gas after a surgery and it is no fun!
jeanettej505 0 Posted February 6, 2007 I had surgery on 1/26 and the gas x strips did nothing to relieve the pain or gas. I'm still having shoulder pain at times, but just moving around walking helps. At this point I'm healing up nicely and am able to do very gentle stretches that help get the gas moving. Best of luck!
