How Many Calories Per Day?

Recommended Posts

I am 6 weeks post surgery and have lost 40 pre and 40 post. I have 100 to go or maybe less...depending. Just wondering...how many calories do you all eat each day? I am keeping close track of food and exercise on My Fitness Pal. I try to keep calories around 700-800...does that sound right to those of you who are maybe 2-3 months out? I feel as if I'm not hungry and I am getting 80 Protein grams per day.

You may need no to ask your dr or dietician. I was told My Fitness Pal is not completely accurate for us due to our surgery. I only use it to track my cals/protein because it's more convenient than writing it down.

My calorie intake is really low on mfp. I saw my nut and she said 1200 calories and 150 carbs a day. Try getting that in lol

I am almost a year out on 11/21. Saw my nutrionist and dr on Friday. They told me to stay around 1000 calories a day, minimum 60 gr of Protein, maximum of 60 carbs and at least an hour of exercise daily. For every extra hour of exercise add 20 gr of protein. As of Friday I was down 136 lbs in less than a year. So its working for me.

I'm a little over 3 months out and get 550-950 calories and 50-75g Protein a day.

At four months out I vary widely from 400-800 daily. Today I skipped lunch (bad I know but busy at work) so only had 250. Not a good idea... Actually have more energy when closer to 600-800!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
