douchewafflebear 160 Posted October 30, 2012 Hi. First post. By the way of introduction - I made my decision to have WLS in August - I have a 6 mo MANDATORY purgatory (irish catholic speak) before I can even see my surgeon - but as a research element I went to a surgery seminar for WL last week and discovered I am best suited for RNY (after saying absolutely NOT) I am warming up to it -- So - essentially I am going to see my surgeon for the first time later in January - Do I go batshitcrazy and work out like a maniac (to whatever degree that means at 200lbs over weight) pre-surgery - or do I just take one day at a time. Just wondering what y’all think. tia.
PaulB 346 Posted October 30, 2012 Some (but not all) doctors and Insurance company's require you to do supervisor weight loss for up to 6 months. I'm not saying live it up for later you will pay. But now is the time before your First doctors visit. Becuse after that they will be watching you. They will require you to see a phycolegist and maybe have a sleep study done.if you smoke they will want you to Quite. Hope you are ready for a life change Becuse that's what will happen for the better of course. I'm 13 weeks post op and wish I had done this years ago. Day of surgery I was 290 10/30 I'm 221 lbs that's 69 lbs 56 lbs to target weight. Hope I didn't scare you not trying WLS is not the answer to weight loss but is the key to better health that you will spend the rest of your life fighting. Good luck on your new Journy we need all the losers we can get here on this Fourm Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12 2 douchewafflebear and tlynn4love reacted to this
douchewafflebear 160 Posted October 31, 2012 I am living my 6 mo of supervised diet right now - I lost 12ish so far. I could go into turbo ME and spend all my life working out and I will loose - but I’m just wondering how that effects/affects (i never get that word right) post rny I have to do: endoscope sleep study pulmanologist (2 visits - possibly 3) -- for that alone I need to get my bottom on a treadmill endochronoligist for a full blood panel psych nutritionist exercise specialist I might be missing something here ... but I think that’s the list. I am being watched like a hawk - and honestly - nothing makes me wanna do the things that got me here - no desire for crap - and i’ve been doing the Protein first and measuring my foods I am having a hell of a time getting myself motivated to go to the gym - it’s my last hurdle so to speak - I just wonder (outloud) if I should be kicking this into high gear - a big part of me knows that it will mean an easier recovery - just wondering if anyone here has any experience with this. Thank you for your feedback and congrats on the 69lbs - that rocks my friend. 1 tlynn4love reacted to this
PaulB 346 Posted October 31, 2012 Yes hit the gym I was a gym rat befor my accident and have returned to the gym after WLS I love the feeling or should I say the buzz I get from working out the days I can't go to the gym I walk 3 Miles . You sound like you got the program down and know what needs to be done. You sound like you are ready for your life to change for the better and you will succeed Becuse you are informed. That Gives you a higher chance of succeeding and reaching your target weight. Everyone on this Fourm will be cheering you on and here for support all you have to do is ask. Any questions just ask. Ther are a lot of very smart people on here that have been though WLS and have succeeded to their target weight. We could always use one more person on the losers team.
