Good luck to all that had surgery and waiting for surgery. It's so hard to get on here and post. I'm so tired but sipping like crazy. Sore too.

Praying for those who have upcoming surgery. I had mine on The 17th and was home the next day. The gas pains are the most uncomfortable. I also have quite a bit of soreness but nothing that pain meds don't help. I feel a bit weak but better each day. I have been sleeping more than usual but otherwise good. I hope each of you have as easy a time as I have had and will be praying for any complications to be resolved quickly. I have had nothing I consider unbearable just uncomfortable. I hope this helps those waiting to put your nerves at ease a bit. No guarantees on your experience but hope it will be as uneventful as mine. Good luck!

I had band revision non the 4th. It was great. I was home the next day. It's sooooo much better than the band. I can only eat 1 oz of food and I'm done. Never had restriction with the band and I'm really not hungry. 24 lb weight loss total so far. You will do great!

We have, I believe, 9 people having surgery this week after Christmas. I wish all of you the best of luck and I have to concur with the above statement. I have 1 incision point tht gives me the most pain to this day, but I have been off pain med since the day after coming home due to it not affecting me. Actually when I was in the hospital nurses kept telling me I can push the button on the pump for pain med cuz I hardly ever used it. When I did use it, i fell asleep. So when they said that " I could give the button a push " i would and fall asleep, lol. I hope every surgery goes as well and the tolerance to pain is very good. Most of the pain was getting out of the darn hospital bed especially the first time, not to mention the gas. May there be no complications. If there is, may they be minor and easily fixed. Best wishes and good luck.

Gen :-)

I've been given the green light all the way around. Surgery is this Friday! I'm so excited and scared all at the same time. I'm spending my week preparing my home for after surgery. Need to go shopping for my post surgery fluids. Anyone have anything they loved or hated?

Crystal light packets any flavor u like. I like the pomegranate lemonade the best. sugar free Popsicles, sugar fee Jello n sf pudding. I recommend unjury's unflavored Protein and adds protein to Water, or other foods u add it too. It is great w crystal light. Cream of chicken, mushroom, etc Soup to be strained of large particle before eaten. Non fat dry milk (found in baking isle) will add more protein to anything you add milk to. Chicken broth, beef broth, vegetable broth. I used the chicken not the beef or veggie. In the broth i used a pinch of Celtic sea salt and the broth is yummy. You can also use Campbell's chicken noodle soup, strain the noodles and give them to your child if you have one, add water and yummy.

Www.unjury.com or Amazon.com -- very fast shipping.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
