Hey guys....it's over and I'm so glad to be home and a chance to sleep in my own comfy bed tonight! It went ok I think,as far as the banding goes,I have little or know pain in the tummy area, however there was a hernia issue and it had to be stitched to my diaphram or something and I cannot take a deep breath or it reaaly really pains throughout my chest so I'll be glad when that pain subsides.I also have the gas thing going on...how long does it take for that to go away? All in all I'm glad to be done and home.Rod Stewart was Awesome,so worth it to hear him live at the AC. Hey thanks everyone for your support it helped many times keep me optimistic.YEAYEAYEA I'm Done!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Astrotoes: Welcome Home! The gas usually lasts a couple of days. Try to walk as much as possible. Some people swear by 'Gasx', but others say it does nothing. It does help not to lie down flat.. sleep on an incline (reclining chair handy?)... It's a whole new world out here!

Astrotoes, welcome home. It would be very cool to see Rod Stewart. I am sorry to hear about your hernia. Did they repair it at the same time? Hope you are feeling comfortable and getting lots of Vitamins, liquids and walking. Take Care.

It is likely a hietal hernia that he fixed. They scars are in the same position as the lapband. In fact, I have already lied & told someone this is what I am going to be away from work for.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
