3 Years Post Op And Need Support

Recommended Posts

Thanks Paul for your repsonse. I am honored to be here and I expect and want nothing more than some tuff love. After I had my RNY' date=' I was a member of another support board. By focusing on helping others and trying to make a difference in the lives of others I was able to lose weight and finally was loving and living life. I remember giving out tuff love when it was needed. So please don't hold back. Well, don't be to hurtful either because I am a girl :o). I had my surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago, physical therapy is a work in progress. I really didn't have any pain post-op until my PT therapist increased the intensity of my workout. Man o man, that was last Friday, and my muscles are still flared up and angry. Yesterday we had to take a step back, she put me back on my walker with ambulation. I just want to screammmmmmm. Im not doing anything that can increase my metabolism. This is very frustrating. Im telling myself to stay compliant or it will take even longer to get better. Wish you or somebody had a majic wond that could fix me and take me to the gym. This is going to happen Im just so impatient. Im going to search for some upper body exercises that might help increase my metabalism. Thanks for your help and suggestions.[/quote']

The YMCA has an income based sliding scale for memberships. I have a hip/pelvic injury from a car wreck. I go swimming at the Y. Best thing in the world for exercising.

I work out at the YMCA Becuse it's the only gym in 20 miles from my house. I keep saying this would be a great town for a planet fitness or a snap fitness there is nothing. They have everything I need to work out but I make to much money so I pay full price $46.50 a month you bet I'm spending every spear min at the YMCA.

You may want to try cross fit training you can do it at home and you workout at your own pace. You can also customize it to your needs.

Have you thought about using a wii and the weights attachments for upper body workout? Even if you can't do what you normally do, you can get your heart rate up and work on the biceps ;). Welcome aboard. I'm post op (operation at 30 nov) and trying to bring down my weight otherwise the dr won't operate... Getting exercise has been so hard. What did you do preop or just post op as exercise back when you first had the surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
