Hi everyone I have a couple of questions I've had chest pain and upper back pain after i eat I'm thinking it might be heartburn because it only happens after I eat but lasts forever like hours and I occasionally take ibuprofen and I take Zolpidem or "Ambian" to help me sleep could this be causing a heart problem? Just curious

I would def ck with your Dr to be on safe side. Might be gas or acid. I also take ambien with no stomach upset. Do you take Prilosec or something similar ? Good Luck to you

This is defiantly something to talk to your doc about. I don't think we are supposed to take Ibuprofen after surgery for pain, so that could be making the matter even worse. Tylenol is the over the counter med for pain. It does sound like it is gas or indigestion or something but your doc can give you something for that,.

I sure hope we can take ambien after surgery because I have horrible insomnia and I depend on the ambien nightly. And even with it it takes several hours to go to sleep and I don't sleep for very many hours.

Hope You find out what is wrong, I have had that feeling with the band and I know it is miserable.

Definitely stop taking Ibuprofen. No NSAIDS after surgery. They are hard on your stomache and can lead to ulcerations in your pouch.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
